The City of Key West Planning Board hears a spectrum of important public planning issues, ranging from specific development approval requests to changes to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations. In 2008, the City Commission enlarged the membership of the Board to seven members, with each City Commissioner appointing one member each. To become a volunteer to serve on the Planning Board, the interested person is required to be a resident of the City of Key West.
Depending on the nature of the land development regulatory activity or proposed ordinance, the Planning Board serves in an advisory capacity making recommendations to the City Commission, or makes decisions final in nature, subject to appeal either to the City Commission or court of law.
All Visual Presentations for Agenda items must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board twenty-four hours prior to the start of the meeting.
It is the policy of the City of Key West to comply with all requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Please call the TTY number at 800-955-8771 or 800-955-8770 (Voice) or the ADA Coordinator at 305-809-3811 at least five business days in advance for sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices, or materials in accessible format.
