Public Participation in the Budget Process

Residents are encouraged to attend budget workshops and public hearings held each year before the City's annual budget is adopted.  These meetings provide opportunities to learn about the proposed budget and follow key milestones in the City Commission's review and approval process.

City Organization:

As outlined in City Code Sec.  2-737, the City manages its financial resources through an annual budget organized to reflect municipal activities and prepared in accordance with the State of Florida Uniform Accounting System Manual.

City Budget Process:

As outlined in City Code Sec.  2-738, the City Manager prepares and presents each year a balanced budget to the City Commission for review at public workshops and regular meetings, consistent with Florida Statutes Chapter 200, including millage determination requirements under F.S. § 200.065.  The City Commission adopts the final budget by resolution, and the ad valorem tax rate is adopted by ordinance.

Approved budget allocations remain in effect for the duration of the fiscal year.
