Mission Statement:

The mission of the City of Key West Building Department is to deliver expert advice and prompt, courteous service regarding local, state, and federal building codes and standards.  Our staff is committed to the safety of city residents and guests and to upholding the integrity of our department.  We are dedicated to assisting residents and professionals courteously and timely.  Our primary goal is safeguarding the public and promoting our city's health, safety, and welfare by enforcing the Florida Building Code, and City of Key West Code of Ordinances.

About the Building Department:

The City of Key West Building Department comprises four divisions: Permitting, Plan Review, Inspections, and Floodplain Management.  All divisions are dedicated to protecting our community's health, safety, and welfare.  We continually strive to provide fair and equitable services to our customers through ongoing education and interpretation of Building Codes and Ordinances.

Our staff serves as department representatives, informing the public about building procedures, licensing requirements, zoning issues, and code compliance.
