The City of Key West, Florida

The Southernmost City in the Continental United States

Sea Level Rise

The City's Sustainability Advisory Board has been taking a proactive approach aimed at identifying and implementing policies and procedures aimed at mitigating the impact of sea level rise upon the community.

The Nature Conservancy is a non-profit organization actively address climate change and its affects upon sea level rise.  It runs the Coastal Resilience web site, with a section dedicated to the Florida Keys.

Its Future Scenarios Map is an online interactive program where the user can select a degree of sea level rise to view its impact upon the city as a whole, or any particular location.

The image below was created using their Future Scenarios Map and adjusting it for a one-foot increase in sea level.

By using their site, a user can zoom in to any specific location within the city.
