Barroso Honored by Chamber of Commerce

Captain Inspector Jason Barroso honored as the Key West Chamber of Commerce Firefighter of the Year 2018
The Firefighter of the Year Award was presented by Chief Michel Davilla and sponsored by Keys Federal Credit Union.
Captain Michael Budde nominated Captain Inspector Jason Barroso for recognition as 2018 Firefighter of the Year with this statement, ““I believe him to be a man of character and that he demonstrates what a public safety officer should be on and off duty.”
Jason started his career with the Key West Fire Department in 2002 after a brief stint with the Monroe County Fire Department. He arrived with firefighting experience as well as training in aircraft firefighting. He was promoted to Lt. Inspector in 2012 and Captain Inspector in 2016.
The reason he was recognized was especially due to his extraordinary work with the Key West High School Fire Academy. This program was started many years ago to encourage local students to seek emergency responder jobs when they graduate from high school.
Jason was recognized for passing onto his students the same character traits he holds dear.
