Parking Permits

Residential Parking Permit

Residents who reside within Key West city limits, Active military personnel stationed in the Key West area, Key West real estate Property Owners, Key West Seasonal Residents (4 months or longer), and vehicles registered to a business that has a Key West business license can apply for a permit that allows the vehicle to park in a marked residential permit space for $20.00 per year. The permit is also valid for 4 hours free parking one time per day at one of following locations: Old Town Garage (aka Park’N’Ride) in 300 block of Grinnell Street, Main lot at Key West Bight in 800 Block of Caroline Street, Fire Station lot in the 600 Block of Simonton Street, Truman Waterfront Park and Smathers Beach. Apply at Monroe County Tax Collector’s Office located 1200 Truman Ave. This permit can be suspended by City Manager for events, festivals, hurricanes, etc.. at their discretion.

All permits expire every October. Monroe county license tag is no longer valid for eligibility.

Employee Assistance Parking Permit

Employees who work in the Commercial Historic District can apply for a permit that allows their vehicle to park on-street in a metered (pay to park) space for $752.50 (includes tax) every 4 months. Applicant must provide a valid driver’s license, original notarized letter from applicant’s employer verifying employment, photograph of vehicle, and vehicle registration. Apply at City Hall located at 1300 White Street.

Permit fees are nonrefundable and not pro-rated. Vehicle cannot be used for promoting commercial purposes except the business owner’s personal vehicle. Rental or passenger vehicles for hire are not eligible.

Employee Parking Lot Permit

Employees in the historic district are eligible for a permit to park during their scheduled work hours in the Park ‘n’ Ride located in the 300 block of Grinnell Street and Truman Waterfront Park for $25.00 per month. Applicant must provide a valid driver’s license, original pay stub no more than 30 days old, and vehicle registration. Apply at the KW Transit Office located at 5701 College Road or City Hall at 1300 White Street. Permits may be purchased for up to six (6) months at a time.

The City reserves the right to verify employee’s work schedule upon request. The City Manager may suspend or restrict permit during emergencies or festival events.

Monroe County Truman Waterfront Park Parking Permit

Full time residents who reside south of Mile Marker 11 are eligible for a permit that allows parking for up to 4 hours per day at Truman Waterfront Park. Applicant must present a valid Driver’s License showing their address in Monroe County anywhere south of Mile Marker 11 (up to Shark Key). Apply at the City of Key West Parking Division Office in City Hall at 1300 White Street. The annual fee is $25.00

The City Manager may suspend or restrict permit parking during emergencies or festival events.

Residential Metered Parking Permit

If a resident lives in a metered (pay to park) block and has no off-street parking, they can apply for a permit that allows the vehicle to park on-street in that block for $106.25 per year. The Resident must provide proof of ownership of vehicle and one or more applicable proofs of residence: Official residential lease (signed and witnessed) for the address, warranty deed for homesteaded property at the address, Driver’s License with Real ID compliance at the address, Utility bill in their name at the address, Voter’s Id at the address, etc.. Apply at City Hall located at 1300 White Street.

The Permit is valid on-street in the block indicated on the permit in a metered or pay to park space only.

Temporary Parking Permit

Temporary parking permits may be issued by the City for any number of reasons. Right-of-Way permits, construction projects, special events, film permits, City staff and board members on city business, etc.. under the authority of the City Manager.

Official Parking Permit

Official parking permit may be issued by City Manager to officials who frequently use parking while on City Business or Benefit.

Handicap Parking Permit

Handicap Parking Permits are issued by the State of Florida. Applicant must apply at Monroe County Tax Collector’s Office located at 1200 Truman Ave. An affidavit from applicant’s Physician is required. Vehicles with valid placard or plate may park in specially marked spaces (handicap spaces) and also park for up to 4 hours without payment in municipal metered spaces (on-street or in city lots). Handicap placards are not valid in loading zones, fire lanes, residential spaces, etc…

Other State and Country valid permits are accepted if the vehicle is being used for transportation by the permit holder.
