Truman Waterfront Advisory Board

ALL VISUAL PRESENTATIONS FOR AGENDA ITEMS MUST BE PROVIDED TO THE CLERK OF THE BOARD TWENTY-FOUR (24) HOURS PRIOR TO THE MEETING.

 
 
The City Commission created the Truman Waterfront Advisory Board by passage of Resolution 09-051 at a regular City Commission Meeting held on February 18, 2009.

The City Commission by passage of Resolution 10-277 supplemented and clarified the scope of the "Truman Waterfront Advisory Board" (TWAB) at a regular City Commission Meeting held on September 21, 2010.  


The City Commission by passage of Resolution 12-024 supplemented and clarified the scope of the members of the Board by adding "The members shall reside in the City of Key West, or shall have a business, employment or profession located in the City and reside in the lower keys from Key West to Big Coppitt Key......"
The City Commission by passage of Resolution 15-343 supplemented and clarified the scope of the qualifications of the members of the Board
 
 

The Mission and Duties of the Truman Waterfront Advisory Board are listed below:

  • To make recommendations to the City Commission and LRA on all items and issues related to the entire Truman Waterfront area for the improvements of the Truman Waterfront.
  • To promote the rehabilitation, revitalization, conservation and redevelopment of lands and structures within the Truman Waterfront.
  • Advise the City Commission on projects and uses for the property which are consistent with the comprehensive plan and conveyance documents from the United States.
  • Explore funding sources to offset any potential taxpayer burden.
  • Study the feasibility of proposed projects and the viability of future projects.
  • Facilitate productive communication and elicit opinions from all interested individuals and entities, especially the United States Navy.
THE TERM GUIDELINES OF THE BOARD:
  • The seven positions on the Board shall be filled by each member of the City Commission.
  • The term of each member shall coincide with of the Commission Member appointing them.
  • There may be a non-voting ex-officio additional member appointed to the Board by the United States Navy.
  • There may be a non-voting ex-officio additional member appointed to the Board by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
  • There may be a non-voting ex-officio additional members appointed to the Board from the National and Federal Park Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • All Board Members shall be residents of the City of Key West, or shall have a business, employment or profession located within the City and reside in the Lower Keys from Key West to Big Coppitt Key.
