During the morning session of the monthly meeting, City Manager Al Childress, Mayor Teri Johnston, and the Key West City Commission commended Director Marcus Davila and the entire Community Services Department for their steadfast dedication to the City of Key West Holiday Parade.
Since 1996, the City of Key West has hosted a Holiday Parade with the help of Community Services. Community Services drives the preparation of Bayview Park, Truman Avenue, and Duval Street to host more than 70 local floats to celebrate the holidays.
The Community Services Team orchestrates road closures, safety barricades, float parking, and clean-up with little disruption to traffic while returning the streets to normal before morning.
