This week, Mayor Teri Johnston and the City Commission commended the Key West High School Boys' Baseball team for an outstanding season. Their 2023 season ended with a record of 24 to six.
This team won the title of Class 4A District 16 Champions for two years running.
“We would like to congratulate these seniors that will be moving on:” reads the proclamation, “Andris Barroso - Indian River State College, Jack Haggard - Quincy University, Wyatt Kuhn - Dyersburg State College, Marlin Takovich - Florida International University, Gabe Williams - U.S. Coast Guard and Anden Rady - Lagrange College.”
In addition, the proclamation congratulates Monroe County and HSBN Miami Dade Player of the Year Jack Haggard as well as Monroe County and HSBN Miami Dade Pitcher of the Year Andris Barroso.
It continues to recognize two players who, though not yet seniors are already committed to college: Felix Ong – University of Florida, and Anthony Lariz - University of South Florida.
