The community joined together Thursday to show Key West's support of the Ukrainian people who are suddenly at war with Russia. The Ukrainian flag was hoisted on the flagpole at City Hall, and the community gathered to see the lighting of the front of the building with the Ukrainian flag colors of blue and gold. The flag will remain as long as that country is under siege.
The Key West City Commission discussed the move with staff during their March 1 Commission meeting; The island city is home to many Ukrainian people. The show of support is another way that Key West is One Human Family.
