Fire Station Groundbreaking

The Key West Fire Department had the pleasure of conducting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station #2 on Simonton Street. Several years in the making, the new facility will provide for the needs of the community and of the firefighters in a way that the crumbling current station cannot. Construction will begin this month.
"Although this ceremony focuses on the start of a station," said Fire Chief David Fraga, "we see it as a beginning of a process that will give our firefighters a much needed new home and the start of a new chapter in the history of the Key West Fire Department."
