The Solid Waste Department is responsible for properly handling and disposing of all Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) generated by the City of Key West. We also collect our City's recyclables. The transfer station is located on Rockland Key.
All of the MSW processed at the City Transfer Station is currently being transported to a Waste-to-Energy Facility in Broward County via a contract with Waste Management of Florida, Inc. Recyclables are taken to the Reuter Disposal and Processing Center operated by Waste Management in Pembroke Pines, FL.
