The Operations Bureau includes the day and night patrol, which account for the largest number of sworn officers. They respond to calls for service and proactively deter and detect crime. The Operations Bureau includes the Criminal Investigations Division, the Mounted Unit, the Traffic Unit, the Marine Unit, the Special Response Team, the Crisis Negotiation Team, Bicycle Patrol, Honor Guard and Community Affairs.

Traffic Unit

Traffic Enforcement's primary responsibility is investigating accidents within the City of Key West, as well as enforcing traffic laws and parking regulations.

Marine Unit

The Marine Unit's primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and protection of cruise ships and their passengers while in the port. While on the water the Marine Unit's secondary responsibilities include: boat safety enforcement, environmental concerns, waterside enforcement, and fishery enforcement.

Mounted and K9 Units

One of the most popular units of the Key West Police Department is its Mounted Unit. These equestrian officers provide a daily presence that is particularly beneficial downtown and with crowds. The K9 Unit pairs officers with dogs who help with everything from sniffing drugs to ensuring officer safety.
