Chief Donald J. Lee, Jr.Donie Lee
Chief Donie Lee joined the Key West Police Department in 1994.
In his time with the department, Chief Lee has worked on both the day and night shifts, been a bike patrol officer and served as a field training officer. Chief Lee was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant, where he supervised patrol officers on both the day and midnight watch.
After working in the detectives division for over five years as the Detective's Sergeant and then Detective's Lieutenant, Chief Lee then served as Captain of the Investigative Operations Bureau, followed by his role as Captain of the department's Patrol Operations Bureau.
In April of 2008, Chief Lee was appointed as head of the Key West Police Department. Chief Lee is a fifth generation Key West local, or Conch, and holds a degree in criminal justice from the University of Florida. He is also a graduate of the Southern Police Institute's Command Development School, Drug Enforcement Agency's Drug Unit Commanders Academy and the FBI's Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar.
