For many people in our community, they're nameless, faceless voices. Some of us are lucky enough never to have to talk to them. But when we need them, they're always there. These voices calmly extract information from people whose lives are suddenly turned upside down. These voices ensure that help arrives quickly. They are the unsung heroes behind all emergency responders: the telecommunicators.
Next week – April 9 through 15, 2023, is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. These dedicated professionals are on hand 24 hours daily to ensure that any emergency or crisis is quickly dispatched. Every day they calmly and professionally ensure that help is on the way.
"This week is a chance for the community to thank these men and women who work tirelessly during emergencies," said Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg. "Please take a moment to thank these important members of the community who deal with each crisis with dedicated professionalism."
