[ARCHIVED] Earth Day Cleanup on Friday, April 22!

City Seal

The City of Key West is celebrating Earth Day 2022 with a volunteer cleanup!

Please join City staff and the dedicated group of Ploggers at 8 AM on Friday, April 22.  The base camp will be the Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church parking lot, located at 2610 Flagler Avenue.  Groups will be sent to different areas to pick up trash and cigarette butts.

The City will provide gloves, buckets, and pickers.  The trash will be measured and weighed.

The cleanup is part of the Keep Key West Beautiful campaign, which aims to involve everyone in ensuring our island stays clean and green.  And it's a special edition of the Early Bird Cleanup conducted every Friday morning by a dedicated group of volunteers calling themselves the Ploggers.  They meet at a new spot in town and perform a cleanup every week.  Over the past year, they have picked up thousands of pounds of trash and cigarette butts.

After the Earth Day cleanup, participants are invited to return to the Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church parking lot to receive Keep Key West Beautiful gear.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in Earth Day.  Questions about Earth Day participation can be answered by calling the Executive Administrator to the City Manager.
