A totally and permanently disabled veteran who is a resident of Florida and honorably discharged from the Armed Forces is not required to pay any license or permit fee to any municipality in order to make improvements upon a dwelling owned by the veteran, which is used as the veteran's residence, if such improvements are limited to ramps, widening of doors, or similar improvements for the purpose of making the dwelling habitable or safe for the veteran.
Veterans must provide proof of honorable military service, such as their DD-214, Veteran Identification Card, or Veteran Health Identification Card.
Veterans who need to obtain a copy of their DD-214 may request it through the National Archives, which provides information on how to make the request online.
